1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using EBookFactory, you agree to these Terms. Accepting the Terms of Service within the application is mandatory before using generation features.

2. Service Description

EBookFactory is an AI-powered manuscript generation platform. The service allows users to:

Generate full-length book manuscripts using AI, including automated outlining, drafting, editing, and quality assurance.
Generate AI-powered cover art (front cover, back cover, and spine) based on book content analysis.
Export manuscripts in multiple formats (PDF, DOCX, EPUB, RTF, Markdown, Plain Text) including KDP-Ready packages for Amazon publishing.
Automate book production through the Auto Loop feature with configurable preferences.

Generated content is intended as a creative writing aid and starting point for further editing and refinement.

3. Accounts

Authentication is handled through Replit using OpenID Connect (OIDC), supporting Google, GitHub, Apple, X, and email login. EBookFactory does not store passwords.

On first login, you must choose a unique username for your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Replit account. Each account is isolated: your books, settings, credits, and data are private and not accessible by other users.

Accounts are assigned roles (user, moderator, support, admin, or owner) that determine access to platform features. The platform owner may change your role or account status (active, suspended, banned, or locked) as needed for platform management.

Unauthorized use of your account should be reported immediately.

4. Credits and Billing

EBookFactory operates on a credit-based system:

Credits are required to generate manuscripts, perform quality checks, and create cover art (front, back, and spine). Credit costs are based on actual AI processing usage with a platform billing multiplier applied.
Credits are non-transferable and may only be used within your account.
Credits are purchased via Stripe. By purchasing credits, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
All sales are final unless otherwise stated in the Refund Policy section below.
Credit pricing and packages may change at any time. Existing purchased credits remain valid regardless of pricing changes.
When generation starts, credits are reserved upfront for the current step. If a step fails, reserved credits are automatically returned to your available balance.
An automated system runs every 15 minutes to detect and recover any credits stuck in a reserved state due to process failures. Credits are only released when no active processes exist and the reservation is older than 2 hours.
You can configure personal daily limits (credit cap, spending limit, books per day) to control your daily usage. All limits default to unlimited unless you explicitly set them.

Auto Top-Up

If you enable Auto Top-Up, credit packs will be purchased automatically through Stripe when your balance drops below your configured threshold. You are responsible for managing this setting and any resulting charges.

Disputes

The platform owner may mark credit transactions as disputed in cases of payment chargebacks or other billing issues. A disputed transaction may result in credits being deducted from your account. Processor fees associated with disputes may also be recorded. If you believe a dispute was applied in error, contact the platform owner.

5. Generated Content

There is no guarantee of originality. AI-generated content (including manuscripts, subtitles, cover art, and metadata) may resemble existing works.
You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws before publishing any generated content.
You are responsible for copyright clearance and any intellectual property considerations related to generated manuscripts, cover art (front, back, spine), and associated metadata.
EBookFactory does not claim ownership of content you generate, but makes no warranties regarding its originality or suitability for publication.
Cover images are generated by DALL-E 3 and are subject to OpenAI's content and usage policies. Text overlays (titles, subtitles, author names, summaries) are applied programmatically.

6. AI Disclaimer

AI-generated content may contain errors, inconsistencies, or unintended content. The quality assurance system attempts to catch common issues but cannot guarantee perfection. Always review generated manuscripts before publishing.

7. Data Handling

Your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Book content is processed by OpenAI's API for generation purposes. Payment processing is handled by Stripe.

8. Prohibited Uses

Generating content that violates applicable laws or regulations.
Attempting to circumvent credit limits, billing systems, or spending controls.
Sharing or reselling your account access.
Automated abuse of generation systems beyond the provided Auto Loop feature.

9. Limitation of Liability

EBookFactory is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from AI-generated content, including lost profits, legal claims, or publishing issues. Maximum liability is limited to credits purchased in the prior 90 days.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance. You will be prompted to re-accept updated Terms through an in-app notification.

11. Refund Policy

Credits purchased through EBookFactory are generally non-refundable. Exceptions may be made at the sole discretion of the platform owner in cases of:

Service outages that prevented credit usage.
Technical errors resulting in incorrect charges or credits stuck in reserved state that could not be automatically recovered.
Other exceptional circumstances as determined by the platform owner.
